Wernddu Golf Club

This competition is played as a 3 ball Texas scramble with a handicap of 1/8 combined. Again the golfing gods were looking out for us, as the sun was out for the first day of June. With over twenty teams entered, the cousre in excellent condition play commenced. With numerous teams having birdies the winners in the club house turned out to be the team of single handicap players, winning by just 1 stroke :-

1. R. Lawson, N. Taylor, T. Smith - 58 nett

2. L. Ralp, M. Powell, L. Turvey - 59 nett (count back)

This competition is played as a 4 ball better ball (medal) playing off 3/4 handicap, which once again was well supported by the club members. This years competition was play in dreadful weather conditions and all those who completed the course should be either be congratulated or sent to the asylym. The winners, who in the conditions played a blinder, were the team of Gav and G Phillips. Don’t forget to check your handicaps before you play in the next competition boys.

On a wild and windy Saturday morning, 46 entries for the 2 Day Championship prepared to Tee Off. Only 2 players played better than their handicaps, both players with a 5 handicap,  N. Taylor (who parred the course) and R. Lawson shooting 3 under his handicap. The end of Day 1 had 3 players close to one another with the field being held up by S Davies in 46 position.

3. M. Powell - 75 Gross (73 Nett)

The second day had players teeing off in reverse order and the leaders having a ‘lie-in’ and teeing off at 10.20am. First group out (Tee off at 8.40am) included S. Davies, D. Moyle and S. Donnelly, so no lie-in for these boys. With the course playing a little tougher due to the windy conditions again, only a handful of players bettered the previous days score and the winners are as follows :-
